This week saw the annual 102.5 Radio Pembrokeshire Local Hero Awards take place in the superb setting of Slebech Park. Once again this year, The Recruiter Group sponsored an award, this year choosing to recognize the Teacher of The Year.
In addition to supporting our chosen charity for the year, Pembrokeshire Mind, we continue to play an active role in other aspects of our local community. The Local Hero Awards is one such example, and it has been a privilege to be involved again this year, doing our small part to help recognize and reward those people who selflessly give up their time or go beyond the call of duty to make a real difference to those around them.
In recent years there has been much talk around the term of ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’, and what that should mean for businesses. Some feel it should be delivered as cash donations or investments into communities or specific projects, others say it should be about encouraging staff to be actively involved as volunteers with local charities.
For us here at The Recruiter Group, it is perhaps a mix of the above and more. We actively get involved in our local community, giving up time to work with local charitable organisations in a voluntary capacity. We also raise money for charity, again encouraging others we work with to get involved. And of course, we play our part in ensuring that our Local Heroes get the recognition they rightly deserve.
The winner of the Teacher of the Year award, Pam Stephens, has tirelessly worked with children across Pembrokeshire to improve the provision for those with hearing difficulties and deafness. It was our absolute pleasure to see this wonderful lady recognized for her dedication and hard work, and join with many others also being rewarded across a range of categories from Young Entrepreneur, Volunteer of the Year and Mum of the Year, to Act of Bravery, Countryside Champion and Contribution to Sport.
Over the course of this year, we will be continuing to keep you up to date with our fundraising and other activities supporting our local community. If you would like to know more, or even get involved with us and do your bit to help, just get in touch!
